This short story was inspired by the 2016 election for the President of the United States. It is, of course, completely fictitious, as it relays a future that has not yet happened. While some of the characters in the story are real people, what they experience in these pages is entirely fabricated; hopefully they will never have to endure the consequences described.
There are some facts woven into the fiction, mainly attributed to Mr. Donald Trump, who is the Republican party's presidential nominee. Trump's words and actions, which are verifiable through video and sound recordings, spawned this dystopian look at what the future may hold.
As I wrote, I realized this story could potentially be one of the longest short stories ever written. The amount of crass, callous and offensive remarks made by Mr. Trump is so excessive, I had to cherry pick which ones to use to move the story forward.
My political views notwithstanding, I hope people will never have an opportunity to suggest life imitates art after reading this story, and may this dystopian horror story forever remain in the fiction genre.

She may be Jane Doe as far as the general public was concerned, but at school all 10,000 students knew who she was. She’d already sensed glances in her direction. She heard the whispering as she went from class to class. How did she ever get into this situation?

The Résumé, or Curriculum Vitae, as they say in England. Typical Brits. They always manage to make everything sound impressive, don’t you think? Perhaps I should designate my life a curriculum vita as, loosely translated, it means “the course of life.” But there again, the word résumé is rather fitting too. We stole the word from the French, you know. It means “to summarize,” and what you are about to read does rather summarize my life. Or at least my love life; an all-consuming hobby which I have to confess I’m not particularly adept at. I really don’t know how other women manage to be so accomplished in this arena. I suspect they may be nothing more than extremely good liars.

He’d never shopped in a pawn store before, but Ron was kind of desperate. He’d managed to download a virus onto his work issued laptop the night before. Stupid Internet gambling. What was he thinking? If the boss found out he was goofing around on the work computer again, he’d almost certainly be canned. He’d dropped it off at a repair place, but they said that it might be a couple of days before they could get round to looking at it. He’d negotiated a pretty good deal for this one though. He just hoped it would boot up like it did in the store when he got it home.

Any mother, even in the best of circumstances, has misgivings when she finds out that her son is getting married. I certainly did.
